Pretty legit how sort of open NASA are with the public with them streaming the countdown to the landing etc and then releasing photos to the media in a fairly diligent and timely manner.

I think it could possibly happen. The ESA and Nasa both have plans to send manned missions to Mars by the year 2033, a split mission I believe?

Doubt we will have colonised by then if we ever do. Too impractical economically unless we build a space elevator first, which would then require the discovery of a material lighter and stronger than graphene with the ability to implement it into a structure such as the massive fuck off tower we'd need
